How to Install Roofing
- Consider where your shingles are to be stored until the installation begins. If a rooftop delivery is not possible put them in the driveway for a few days.
- Remove existing shingles down to the plywood, inspect for rotted wood and replace 1/2″ CDX roof sheathing or FRT (fire retardant plywood on a townhouse).
- Check sky lite flashing and replace if necessary.
- Install new operational sky lites with low e glass and argon gas if your sky lites are not in good condition.
- Furnish and install F-5 1/2 drip edge to prevent water penetration at the entire perimeter of house. Color of the drip edge could be white, chocolate brown or black.
- Furnish and install ice and water shield at the starter course to prevent ice damming.
- Furnish and install 15lb felt paper over decking surfaces (30 Lb if non-walkable).
- Install GAF shingles over felt paper. Your choices are a 3 Tab, 25 year or up to a lifetime, Architectural.
- Install ridge vent II camouflage venting system from peak to peak on all ridges.
- Flash where necessary using non-corrosive aluminum flashing products. Caulk to match.
- Replace all vent stack collars with rubber and aluminum collar sleeves.
- Clean debris from gutters or install 5″ or 6″ K-style gutters where they presently exist.
- Install the Never Clean Gutter System.
- Install 2 x 3 or 3 x 4 downspouts where they presently exist.
- Clean up and haul away all job-related debris.
